Executive Summary

This Paper aims to explore the work related issues in the hospitality Industry and the role of the human resource department in tackling these issues.

It has been revealed that the industry is facing a crunch because of the perceptions of the people outside the industry. How much role is the Human Resource department playing in changing this perception and bringing about a change in the overall mind-set of the prospective workforce in the Industry?

There are many more work related issues that need immediate attention in the current work scenario of the hotel. Keeping in mind all the work issues like rational differences, long working hours, discrimination, low employee morale, bullying, harassment to name a few.

What steps are the human resource managers, who play a key role, doing to withstand these work related issues in the hotel Industry?

As a leader and driving force, if you want to make a difference, then tackling these issues must be a priority. The Human resource management must strive at creating, with the workforce, an ideal work place.

By constantly sensitizing and monitoring workforce, updating laws, reinforcing policies and following procedures, can a conducive work environment be created and, indeed bring about a change in the overall perception of the Hotel Industry.
